The Deal Is Done

The deal is done, Trust Doesnt Rust has accepted all my active members into their corp, and we are either jumped ship already, or in the process of jumping. Dawood and JayB2 promise the corp will be a lot of fun.

I have taken steps to set up a network for MRA members to talk to each other should we have any issues, or just to let each other know whats going on since we wont all be online at the same time.

While we do have a forum, being lazy people we hardly use it. at least the majority don't use it. So to counter this a Mailing group has been set up, along with a chat channel.
Channel MOTD:
MRA Public Channel.

MRA corp is AFK, I filled it full of drugs and its going nowhere soon.

While its doing its thing, we will be moving from place to place in a Migrant Fleet, taking refuge in corps until we get bored or get kicked, and move on. We are essentially "Space Gypsies".

If you have a problem
And no one else can help
And if you can find them
Maybe your can hire...

The MRA Team!!!
So for the next number of months we are calling TDR home. We will be playing in syndicate, one of the first nullsec regions we as a corp went with The Jagged Alliance when they were still young..

The past few days have been spent AFK hauling alot of my crap i have collected over the years to jita or rens to sell it off. I figured that it is not doing me any good in backwater planets, so selling the shit outright will let me buy the vast majority of it back from where-ever i need it.

With the upcoming Nullsec Travel, and the extra money i have found by selling my crap, I have skipped ahead of a few skills to finally get the Carrier skillbook, now all i gotta do it pay for the carrier...

My corp, (although they are not anymore, i am still going to refer to them as such), is very nearly all in carriers now, This will make us very mobile to move around with TDR if they are pushed out of Syndicate, or to other hosts should we want a change.

Shall MRA become a Gypsie?

One of my corp mates on TS suggested the idea of merging into a more established corp. i normally am completely against merging, but the more i think about it, the more it makes sense, as it is really just me running MRA corp at the moment. This doesnt leave me with much time to enjoy the game when i am actually logged on.

While i have been trying to get a war dec in eve, i have also being doing ‘nothing‘.
  • Lead a Roam - No.
  • Missioned - No.
  • Flew in lowsec/nullsec Solo - No.
  • Attempted to kill anyone - No.
  • Mine - No.
  • Spin my ship - Yes.
  • Have my eye balls hang out of my head - Yes.

So, while i can do the last two options my self, if i merge corps with another more established corp then i will ideally have free time to do a few of the fun things in eve. this shouldnt stop me running my own ops with my corp mates, effectively we will be a corp within a corp, like free mercs, were i can do my own things, run MRA ops with the addition of new corp mates, and also leach of the corp by going on their ops and making new friends.

My plan will be to make MRA corp into a travelling community for the foreseeable future, which will have us travelling together  from corp to corp, staying with new hosts until they either stop being fun, or going in a direction we dont like, or more likely someone gets us kicked. Reading back on the first sentence of this paragraph, i just have turned the MRA corp into gypsies..

I have 2 prospects atm which I am currently looking at, Trust Doesn’t Rust, which was HIGHLY recommended by Dawood, who along with JayB2 were my mentors on all things PvP, and also came from Trust Doesnt Rust. My other option is Creative Cookie Procuring, which stood out to me by their recruitment post.

At the moment I have spoken to both corps, and now i need to speak to my corp mates and see what they think.

Selecting the right corp to harrass

In my previously post i mentioned that I am in the market to war dec a corp, and also what kind of corp I want to fight. By war deccing another corp I am looking to recreate a happy time in my eve life when i was learning to PvP with a newly created pirate alt, thus creating an interest to play eve again. What I do not want to do however, is remake a new character to cover the same routine as last time.

So to get the same feeling from a war dec with my main character, i need to look at my pirate’s war and find out what parts of the war made it fun, which was mainly the challenge, and the amount of targets we had.

Challenge
I believe that the fact it was a challenge for my corp mates and me to attack a corp was a major factor in our enjoyment. We were heavily outnumbered, and the target corp had more equipment to play with, as well as more skill points as we were using 1 week old toons.

The challenge of taking on this bigger entity was not impossible however, from the little pvp experience we had, we knew that our knowledge far outmatched theirs in the ways of PvP, which in turn made us smugly confident in our ability to kick the ass of these guys within a month when we unlock ruptures.

More Numbers = More Targets

The size of this corp insured that we rarely logged on without any targets to hunt down. also their willingness to fight was more than i was expecting.

I have shortlisted a few corps, and right now i have given up on the idea of war deccing a corp. there was loads for me to choose from, the problem was i needed a target to fight back, or at least not swarm us to the point we are station sitting.

All the targets i found were either at war already with 2-4 other corps, so i scratched them off my list as i figured what is the odds of them fighting with another war. there was another few promising targets, but i also had to scrap them as they were all wormhole based or nullsec based. i don't expect my corp to have the manpower and equipment available to traverse nullsec realistically, and i do not got the time to play hide and seek in wormholes.

Back to EVE, with a new blog... Thanks Google Accounts

I have recently come back to eve after not having an interest in the game any more.

My last experiences in eve was being in nullsec with a corp which was gradually loosing their interest in EVE. This contributed to my loss of interest as well, as when our alliance wanted a fleet, only me and a handful of other corp mates shows up. Alliance drama wasn’t helping either...

Eventually i gave up with a “whats the point?” attitude, so I pulled out of the alliance and moved back to highsec, where I basically ship spinned for a few months.

Not much was missed with my absence, just POS bashing AAA with Red Alliance, and my old alliance's disbandment from internal turmoil.

So, I tried starwars... while it can be 'nice', its not the game for me.

My old corpies all use the same Teamspeak so we can keep in touch, and I brought up the topic of starting a war in EVE to get a bit of interest back. I know that most of them are still engrossed in star wars to consider it, but I am living in hope that they will return when the story appeal is disappears at the end of the game, when the “grind” starts. If that part of the game is how I imagine it, then I don’t expect many of them to hang around for it, as it is effectively Level 4 missions over and over for no reason. Having something to come back to eve for will hopefully take their eye of the force.

I choose a war as a goal to rally behind as when I think back of the most fun I have had in eve, it was when a handful of corpies made pirate alts to learn how to PvP.

The appeal of this was that our characters and corp were effectively a week old, and we were taking on players with more Skill points, numbers and equipment than us, which made it a constant struggle.

I will hopefully recreate that feeling by war deccing a larger corp who have in their recruitment posts that they are PvPers.

Blogging should also help rekindle my interest in Eve again, however I had to abandon my old blog as I no longer have that email address, and I forgot the password. Of course the only way I can reset it is to have the reset password email sent to me, which is just stupid. WHERE IS YOUR SUPPORT TEAM GOOGLE ACCOUNTS?!
